Data privacy statement
The Association (“we”, “our”, “us”) maintains a database of members (“you”, “your”), which it keeps for the purpose of notifying members of events organised by the Association and other matters of interest, and in pursuit of its legitimate interests, as set out in the Objects clause of the Association’s Constitution.
The data kept by the Association is limited to members’: names; email addresses; year of qualification; profession; and subscription status.
The data controller is the Commercial Litigation Association of Ireland, which can be contacted at mail@clai.ie.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties under any circumstances. From time to time, we will transmit your name and/or email address to our affiliates for the purpose of notifying you of events organised by the Association and other matters of interest, and for recording your attendance at such events. If you wish to have your name and personal data deleted from our database, please let us know at any time and we will attend to your request.
The legal basis for processing your personal data for the purposes set out above is that it is necessary for the pursuit of our legitimate interests, as set out in the Objects clause of the Association’s Constitution.
You have the right to:
- ask us for access to, or rectification or erasure of your data
- restrict processing (pending correction or deletion)
- object to communications or direct marketing
- ask for the transfer of your data electronically to a third party (data portability).
You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission by contacting info@dataprotection.ie. We always handle your personal data securely and minimise its use, and there is no overriding prejudice to you by using your personal information for these purposes.
